It is with heavy heart that your committee has had to make the hard decision to postpone the WIOG conference until 2021 due to the threat of the corona virus pandemic.
The government announced on Monday 16 March 2020 that all mass events involving more than 500 people should be cancelled .
While our conference attendance is below the 500 people threshold, the committee decided to take a precautionary approach and follow the government’s advice. Further restrictions are likely in the coming days or weeks.
The 2021 conference will now be held at the Napier Conference Centre, 26 - 28 May.
Employers are looking at their operations staff as critical assets and as such want to reduce of the risk of key staff being exposed to the virus. Some measures include cancelling toolbox meetings, reducing the number of meetings offsite, and restricting movement to between home and the place of work.
