Water Industry Operations Group of New Zealand Incorporated is a group set up by a committed group of Water and Wastewater Industry Operations Professionals, for all Water and Wastewater Professionals and other involved individuals and organisations.

Te Oranga Wai

We are looking for applications for the Te Oranga Wai prize.

Applicants are asked to submit a report on one of the following:

A project related to the New Zealand water or wastewater industries and provide details on how the project could benefit the industry (ideas need not be limited to treatment plants but can be ideas based on education, community awareness, human resources, research etc); or
Ways in which you have personally contributed to the community through your work experience etc, within the water or wastewater industries and provide details how this could be applied to help improve the water or wastewater system in a developing country.

The Prize: to be awarded annually, with a value of up to $5,000 to the most outstanding Applicant. The Prize recipient and the activity undertaken will be recognised at the WIOG Annual Conference and in various water industry publications.

On receiving your registration details, we will ensure that we have all the information we need, and will confirm back to you by 1 October 2018.

By attending industry events, workshops and conferences we are able to share our experiences and build relationships with other industry professionals.
Networking is much more productive and enjoyable when you have a clear goal in mind.

We gain experience from the knowledge we receive when networking, from presenting papers at conferences; talking about your latest work innovation at workshops; by participating in the operator competitions; and by winning one of WIOG’s prestigious awards.

WIOG and our members are actively participating in industry related topics where we can share our knowledge and experience. Our committee are also members on other stakeholder working groups and committees where we represent the operations sector.

Operations professionals are hardworking and very passionate breed of people who have a lot of knowledge and experience to share. Promoting our industry is achieved in many ways including industry and community events, water campaigns and media channels.

Membership

Member status is available to any water industry employee.

Additionally, any employee of any company supplying equipment and/or services for direct use in the water industry shall also be eligible to become a Member.

Membership is for an individual. We do not offer a corporate membership.

Our membership year runs from 1st April to 31st March.

There is a $10 sign up fee for new, first-time members.

Annual renewal fee for Member $35.00 incl GST.

New Water & Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Training Programme

Connexis are pleased to announce that enrolments into the new water treatment plant operator training programmes will open in February 2018.

This new training programme has been developed through working closely with Water New Zealand, Water Industry Operations Group NZ (WIOG), and key industry stakeholders. The new qualifications and training programmes have been developed since the Havelock North outbreak, and learnings from the tragic incident have been integrated into the programme to enable operators to respond more quickly and effectively to adverse operating conditions.

The new programmes are for people who are responsible for the day-to-day operation of water/wastewater treatment plants and will replace the National Certificates in Water and Wastewater Treatment (Level 4). Read full details below.
